For the last year or three I’ve been trying to find my MINI DV camcorders and recently stumbled upon them sitting on the shelf in my office in a translucent box. All these years and they were just 5 feet from my desk. Also found in that box was my old Walkman, the amazing WM-10. Smaller than a cassette in a box and powered by a single AA battery, it’s still an amazing bit of technology 35 years after I got it. I know I replaced the belt once, and it could use a good cleaning; hopefully I didn’t leave a battery in it. Getting t hat compartment open is a bit of a challenge, but I've had it disassembled before and can do it again if necessary.

Speaking of the 80s, I just realized that among the other items stolen this week was a clock radio I’ve had for at least 30 years. Simple little thing, just kept chugging away.

Since iPhones became reliable enough to consistently wake me up, I only ever used it when I had an obscenely early time to get up; it had a truly obnoxious alarm sound, and was across the room so I had to get up to shut it off. I don’t think I had used it to listen to the radio in at least 20 years.

I have a cool Sony alarm clock with all sorts of features, and I bought it so that I could actually see the display at night. But nowadays I just use the Google Home mini speakers and let them function as my alarm and radio and a million other things. In addition, since I can just talk to them I don't even have to roll over or open my eyes to get the time, and the snooze function works for however many minutes I tell it and is not limited to a set number of minutes. Those speakers are the greatest thing ever...

If I can find my old sports Sony I want to gut it and put a backup battery and old samsung phone in it for my music machine. I am often up in a lift and I have a speaker for that. I usually use my old phone for a music storage library.
